Due to new business demands, with exciting projects across the UK and a busy year ahead, we are looking for enthusiastic, talented and passionate individuals with a drive to succeed, to join our team at Allen Archaeology on a permanent basis, subject to the successful completion of a three‑month probationary period and a training plan for the Trainee role.
About The Role Working predominantly out of our head office in Lincoln, you will be part of a team of experienced archaeologists and trainees, on a variety of fieldwork projects across the UK, but with a particular focus in the East Midlands and East Anglia.

Roles and Responsibilities Working through our award‑winning training programme which lasts for a minimum of three months, you will learn field and post‑excavation techniques and practices relevant to commercial archaeology. You will be supported day to day by a mentor, and after successful completion of the Training Plan and probationary period, you will be moved up to the next Grade 1.2.
At Grade 1.2–1.3 you will have at least three months experience and will work on a variety of evaluations and excavations across the UK, supporting Project Supervisors and Project Officers. The role is primarily fieldwork based, with occasional post‑excavation work including finds and environmental processing. Training and mentoring will be provided; teamwork and initiative are essential.

Essential Requirements
Good knowledge of British archaeology
A good working knowledge of archaeological field practices, including planning by hand using traditional methods
Enthusiasm and a willingness to work in a team, learn and take instruction
Fit and capable of undertaking physical work
A courteous and professional manner
Desirable Requirements
Membership of CIfA at PCIfA level
Previous experience of on‑site survey kit, including GPS and Total Station
Interest in undertaking geophysical surveys
