Role Overview As Sous Chef, you will serve as the right hand to the Executive Chef, leading day‑to‑day kitchen operations and ensuring that every dish reflects the high standards of Rough Creek Lodge. You’ll inspire, train, and guide a talented team of culinary professionals while maintaining the efficiency, organization, and creativity that define our kitchens.
Key Responsibilities
Lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef, maintaining quality, consistency, and efficiency.
Supervise, train, and mentor line cooks, pastry cooks, and prep staff to ensure culinary excellence.
Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan menus, specials, and banquet events.
Maintain strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health standards.
Oversee inventory, ordering, and proper storage of all kitchen supplies.
Contribute to a positive, respectful, and high‑performing kitchen culture.
Troubleshoot operational challenges while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a luxury resort, fine dining, or high‑volume kitchen environment.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Expert culinary skills and knowledge of contemporary cooking techniques.
Ability to maintain composure, multitask, and problem‑solve in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Culinary degree preferred, though extensive hands‑on experience is highly valued.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and special events.
