Assistant Coach - Cross Country/Track and Field
and help develop and maintain a highly competitive collegiate track and field and cross country program.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching and Instruction (≈50%)
– Develop and implement daily training plans, provide technical instruction, analyze performance, monitor progress, foster a positive environment, and attend all practices and meetings.
Recruiting (≈25%)
– Identify and recruit qualified prospects, maintain records, represent the university at recruiting events, and assist with campus visits.
Program Management & Administration (≈5%)
– Assist with meet entries, travel itineraries, equipment inventory, budgeting, data entry, social media, compliance, and fundraising activities.
Student‑Athlete Development (≈20%)
– Monitor academic progress, promote integrity, mentor athletes, and assist with team building and community service initiatives.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Minimum of three years of coaching experience at the collegiate or high‑school level (or comparable competitive experience)
Demonstrated knowledge of event‑group techniques, training methodologies, and safety protocols
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively with diverse student‑athletes, coaches, and administrators
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, e‑mail, and related computer applications
Commitment to NCAA rules and regulations
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively for recruiting and competitions
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Preferred Qualification
Master’s degree
Collegiate playing experience in track & field
Experience with video‑analysis software and other coaching technology
Experience with recruiting databases and CRM systems
Current USTFCCCA (or equivalent) technical certification
Other Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, run, and demonstrate drills for extended periods
Ability to lift and move athletic equipment up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Frequent travel required
Capability to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
