The Field Service Technician–Mechanical repairs and services equipment and machinery at customer facilities for both warranty and non‑warranty issues; meet or exceed customer’s quality and service expectations and represent ATS in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment at the customer’s facility.

Resolve service requirements over the phone if possible.

Work with suppliers to resolve technical issues at customer sites.

Travel to both domestic and international customer locations.

Make recommendations to customers for items that require repair/replacement.

Follow customer’s plant and safety regulations while at their facility.

Complete and submit detailed service and expense reports in a timely manner.

Make follow‑up calls with the customer to verify problems have been resolved and coordinate future calls.

Facilitate warranty/non‑warranty claims with the customer.

Keep up with current ATS products and equipment.

Be available for on‑call support on a rotational basis.

Meet or exceed customer expectations efficiently.

Assist other department staff as defined by the Backend Manager, Service.

Take on temporary or permanent assignments as defined by the Backend Manager, Service.

Qualifications

High school or GED diploma and/or TMA (Tooling & Manufacturing Association) or tool‑and‑die training.

3 to 6 years of experience in a hands‑on mechanical/electrical environment.

Familiar with and able to use hand tools, voltage/pressure meters, measuring gauges and devices.

Ability to work in a multi‑disciplined manufacturing and engineering environment under pressure.

Experience dealing with customers to resolve problems.

Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings, reference manuals, and assembly systems instruction guides.

Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to quickly determine parts of an assembly.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Job Specifications

May be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.

Occasionally exert up to 50 lb of force, frequently up to 10 lb of force.

Normal visual acuity for reading written instructions and computer screens.

Normal hearing for understanding verbal instructions.

Work in a manufacturing environment with occasional high noise levels and physical hazards such as moving mechanical parts and electrical current.

Capable of wearing appropriate PPE for extended periods of time.
