Position Description
deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer in Huntsville, AL.
deciBel Research seeks a software developer with two years' experience for the GMD Weapon System (GWS) team on the Ground Missile Defense (GMD) system. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing software updates that best meet changing customer needs for new and existing features, collaborating with team members, and working in a cross‑functional agile scrum team. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast‑paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborations across disciplines.
General Activities
Design, develop, document, test, and debug application software
Collaborate with other software and systems engineers
Ensure software standards are met
Essential Functions
Support the software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment
Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and direction
Apply system thinking to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end‑user needs
Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives
Education Requirements Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM related field from an accredited university with two years' experience.
Experience Requirements
Experience developing embedded and object‑oriented software in C++
Experience using CMake
Experience with Google Test
Experience developing software in a Linux (preferably RHEL) environment
Special Skills Desired
Degree in Software Engineering or related field
Missile Defense domain knowledge
Knowledge of SysUML
Familiarity with Atlassian and Agile software development practices
Security+ Certification
A current active in‑scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance
