Role Overview
As an Analytical Chemist, you will support manufacturing operations by understanding client needs, conducting complex routine and non-routine laboratory analyses, and evaluating results using statistical tools to ensure high-quality data delivery. You will monitor and modify analytical system performance, report results to clients, perform complex calibrations and preventive maintenance, and implement new analytical equipment and methods. Your role requires proficiency in various technical, operational, or scientific processes, acting as a resource for less experienced team members. Key Responsibilities
Perform expert-level operation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytical instruments and systems. Conduct complex routine and non-routine analyses, and modify methods as needed. Facilitate the sample submission process and review submissions for alignment with plant goals. Investigate and troubleshoot suspect results and instrument performance variability. Select appropriate analytical techniques and interpret data with precision. Develop, validate, and implement new analytical methods. Continuously improve work processes and documentation. Use advanced statistical tools to measure and evaluate analytical system performance. Document and report results promptly to clients. Train and mentor lab personnel. Network to leverage technology and problem-solving. Maintain quality system requirements and safety standards. Qualifications
Minimum of a 2-year college diploma in Chemical Technology or equivalent, or 4+ years of relevant military experience. 3+ years of experience in an industrial lab or analytical lab technologist role. Legal ability to work in Canada; no visa sponsorship available. Preferred Skills
Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Technology, Chemistry, or equivalent. 7+ years of experience in an industrial lab or analytical lab technologist role. Experience with data quality assurance. Proficiency with FT-IR, titrations, GC, ICP, IC, LC, TGA, TOC, and other analytical instrumentation. Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and typical office software programs. Experience in developing and implementing lab safety programs and procedures. Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods. Wear required personal protective equipment. Skills and Abilities
