Asian American Studies: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit)

San Diego Community College District, District Wide. Position type: Adjunct (part-time/substitute), open until filled.

At the time an offer is made, proper salary placement is contingent upon receipt of official transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluations. Initial salary is at first class/step until official transcripts have been submitted.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines.
  • Teach all scheduled classes (lectures, labs, and/or off‑campus sessions).
  • Be available to students outside of class.
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student progress.
  • Create an environment that emphasizes teaching, learning and encourages discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
  • Maintain current knowledge in subject matter areas and keep professional conduct and ethics standards.
  • Fulfill all professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.

  • Master’s degree in Asian American Studies; or
  • Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Asian American Studies; or
  • Equivalent education and experience.

Applicants with foreign degrees must have their coursework evaluated by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute (ACEI) member organization and submit the evaluation with the application.

Prerequisite Requirements Prior to Employment

  • Submit official transcripts.
  • Provide a certificate of tuberculosis exam (renewed every 4 years).
  • Undergo Live Scan fingerprinting at the district’s expense (clearance prior to first day).
  • Provide original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
