Job Description Engage adult students in homeland security, emergency management, and related disciplines. Applicants may be assigned to any of the district’s campuses (City, Mesa, Miramar) and continuing‑education locations. Availability for as‑needed, part‑time teaching schedules, including day, evening, weekend, and off‑campus classes.
Major Responsibilities
Teach scheduled lectures and/or lab courses in accordance with the department curriculum.
Attend to students outside of class time and maintain professional office hours.
Provide quality instruction and foster an inclusive learning environment that encourages discussion.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and assignments.
Keep current knowledge in subject‑matter areas.
Fulfill all professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Emergency Preparedness, Crisis Management, Disaster Management, Cybersecurity, or an equivalent field from a regionally accredited institution.
Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, and other backgrounds of community college students.
Desired Qualifications
Equivalency experience or ongoing enrollment in a qualifying degree program; submit a Request for Equivalency Form during application.
Foreign degree holders: coursework must be evaluated by a NACES‑member organization or the ACEI; attach evaluation report.
Relevant teaching, research, or professional experience in homeland security or related fields.
Additional Information
Applicants must submit official transcripts, a current tuberculosis certificate, live‑scan fingerprints (clearance required before first day), and valid I‑9 documents.
Salary will be set per the Adjunct College Salary Schedule after receipt of official transcripts and verifications.
Employees may be transferred to any district site per the Chancellor’s discretion.
