Data Scientist, Data Quality and Benchmarking
role at
Chainlink Labs
About Us
Chainlink Labs is one of the primary contributing developers of Chainlink, the industry-standard oracle platform that powers the majority of decentralized finance. The Chainlink stack provides essential data interoperability, compliance, and privacy standards for institutional tokenized assets, DeFi, payments, stablecoins, and more. Major global financial institutions—including Swift, Euroclear, Mastercard, Fidelity, UBS, ANZ, Aave, GMX, Lido—use our standards and infrastructure.
About the Role
We are looking for a data scientist who understands financial markets to build real-time pricing systems that produce high-integrity reference prices across thousands of assets. As part of this team you will design models and detection logic that keep prices trustworthy under stress, lead data forensics when incidents occur, quantify user impact, and ship fixes that measurably reduce recurrence.
Your Impact
Build and maintain real-time pricing systems.
Model complex, adversarial markets to understand risk origins.
Lead data forensics (pre/post-trade analysis, benchmark versus pool price deltas, liquidity gaps), quantify user impact, and ship fixes that reduce recurrence.
Requirements
Working knowledge of core DeFi primitives and on-chain signals.
Oracle literacy: understanding of on/off-chain price feeds, sourcing, outlier trimming, medians/TWAPs, and common failure modes.
On-chain data fluency: reading EVM logs, ABIs, ERC standards, event streams, and subgraph/indexing patterns.
Blockchain fundamentals relating to alerting: block finality, reorgs, mempool dynamics, gas markets, latency.
Market microstructure awareness: liquidity depth, slippage, pool imbalance, funding rates, and how these influence benchmarks and alerts.
Preferred Requirements
Hands‑on experience with Chainlink data products (Data Feeds, Mercury, Streams, CCIP) and oracle attack surfaces; prior incident response or post‑mortem work on price/peg/latency events.
Ability to read Solidity/Rust contracts and validate event schemas; experience with major RPC providers, subgraphs, BigQuery on public chains.
Experience designing anomaly detection for financial time series and SLO-driven alerting with Prometheus/Alertmanager/Grafana/Flink + on‑call tools.
Python/SQL with web3 libraries, ABI decoders, Dune/Flipside/Covalent/BigQuery, Kafka/stream processing; portfolio with dashboards/alerts for protocol health, price benchmarks, stale/latency detectors.
All roles with Chainlink Labs are global and remote-based. We ask that you overlap some working hours with Eastern Standard Time (EST).
We carefully review all applications and aim to provide a response to every candidate within two weeks after the job posting closes. The closing date is listed on the job advert, so we encourage you to prepare a thoughtful application. We will hear from you regarding the status of your application shortly after the closing date.
Commitment to Equal Opportunity Chainlink Labs is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive equal consideration for employment in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances. For assistance or accommodation due to a disability, please contact us via the provided form.
