Job Description AECOM is seeking a
Project Structural Engineer
based in
Orange, CA . This role builds analytical and design skills, conducts engineering design under limited supervision, creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings, and uses computer software to solve basic engineering problems. The engineer performs work in accordance with agreed budgets and schedules under supervision. The position supports a wide variety of industry sectors including entertainment, commercial, industrial, parking structures, government, and detention. Engineers will work collaboratively with more experienced engineers on large projects and will be given the responsibility to lead or work independently on smaller structural design projects and tasks, independently managing small to medium‑size projects.
Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design
Coordinate work with other design disciplines and prepare contract documents
Construction administration – author structural reports, assessments, and studies
Qualifications Minimum:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering and 4 years of experience; or equivalency of experience and/or education.
Demonstrated experience applying all major structural design codes.
Demonstrated experience using 3‑D structural analysis software (examples include ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, and SAFE).
Experience designing in Steel, Concrete, Masonry, and Timber.
Experience with Wind and Seismic lateral design.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in use of REVIT/AutoCAD to provide production support as a portion of team support and development.
US Citizenship is required due to federal contract/security requirements.
Preferred:
Master of Science (with structural engineering concentration)
Professional License in California (PE)
Experience with performance‑based design
Experience with ASCE 41 for retrofit of existing structures

This position will not offer sponsorship now or in the future.
Compensation Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $115,000 to $135,000.
