Our campus champions sustainability and the motto “A World of Cultures United in Learning.” Position Description We are building a pool of qualified applicants for temporary, part‑time teaching assignments. Assignments may include day, evening, and weekend courses, and may be in‑person, online, or hybrid. Part‑time faculty postings are continuous recruitments used to create applicant pools to fill part‑time temporary teaching assignments on an as‑needed basis. Applications are accepted year‑round and will remain in the pool for two years. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the Academic Division/Department be interested in scheduling an interview. Duties and Responsibilities Teach nursing in accordance with post‑secondary level established course outlines. Evaluate student work using clear criteria relevant to the course content and student learning outcomes, and provide feedback to students in a timely manner. Maintain and submit accurate records according to published deadlines (i.e., grades, syllabi, attendance reports). Create an equity‑based and welcoming classroom environment. Perform duties described in Board policy, the United Faculty of Ohlone (faculty bargaining unit) contact, the Faculty Handbook, and as assigned at the Fremont Campus and Newark Center, online via the eCampus, and/or other designated locations. Specialties Geriatrics, Medical/Surgical, Mental Health, Pediatrics, and Women’s Health. Minimum Qualifications Either a Bachelor’s degree in nursing with two years of professional experience or an Associate degree in nursing with six years of professional experience. Current, valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California and BRN faculty approval. Commitment to community college goals of equity, anti‑racism, and quality programs for diverse students and students with disabilities. Evidence of responsiveness to the diverse backgrounds of community college students and understanding of equity‑minded practices. For certain positions, a master’s degree in nursing (or equivalent) may be required. Contact the Program Director at cdameron@ohlone.edu for questions. Desirable Qualifications Teaching experience at the community college level desired but not required. Experience using innovative teaching methods that encourage student engagement and learning. Experience creating socially conscious syllabi, equitable classroom materials, and inclusive pedagogical practices. Experience addressing equity issues and working with minoritized students; commitment to participatory governance and team management. Experience with computer technology as a teaching tool, including course management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas). Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
