Outstanding Opportunity for an Experienced Commodities Trader – Leading Energy Trading Hedge Fund
A top-tier Energy Trading Hedge Fund, managing multi-billion-dollar AUM, is expanding its portfolio management team. The firm is exclusively focused on Energy and Commodity markets and is increasing exposure across Power, Natural Gas, Crude, and Refined Products.
This is a unique opportunity to join an established, high-performing team of best-in-class commodity traders. You will manage a $40M+ book and develop discretionary trading strategies while collaborating with industry-leading professionals in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
Base pay range $250,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Develop, execute, and manage discretionary trading strategies across Power, Natural Gas, Crude & Products markets.
Manage and grow a sizeable trading book ($40M+), generating consistent risk-adjusted returns.
Identify and capitalize on market dislocations and relative value opportunities across global energy markets.
Apply strong fundamental and/or quantitative analysis to support trade idea generation.
Manage risk through disciplined position sizing, hedging, and portfolio optimization with VaR expected to grow from ~$3M up to ~$10M depending on strategy and track record.
Collaborate with other PMs, analysts, and risk teams to enhance strategy effectiveness.
Maintain awareness of market structure developments, regulatory shifts, and macro-economic trends.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a discretionary commodities/energy trader.
Proven track record generating PnL in Power, Natural Gas, Crude, or refined product markets.
Strong understanding of physical and/or financial energy markets, market structure, and supply-demand dynamics.
Demonstrated ability to develop trading strategies with disciplined risk management, comfortable operating within a VaR framework that can scale with performance.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and commercial mindset.
Entrepreneurial and self-directed, with the ability to build and scale trading capabilities.
Collaborative team player with strong communication skills.
