Responsibilities

Greets and completes established check‑in procedures for arriving guests, using both manual and computerized methods, to ensure guests are satisfied and in rooms as requested.

Facilitates guest departure (check‑out) by following established procedures to close accounts and prepare rooms for the next sale.

Calculates and/or posts monies, receipts, guest accounts, and other credit forms using accurate cash handling methods and procedures.

Accepts reservations, both in person and by telephone, by accurately communicating hotel rates and using suggestive selling techniques to increase occupancy and revenue.

Maintains good customer relations by staying informed about in‑house and area functions to answer questions and concerns with timely, knowledgeable responses.

Operates the PBX equipment, accepting incoming calls, assisting outgoing calls, scheduling wake‑up calls, and paging guests.

Controls cash transactions at the front desk and maintains complete responsibility for the personal bank as per hotel bank agreement policy.

Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.

Education / Formal Training High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience One to two years of employment in a related position with this company or another organization.

Knowledge / Skills

High school graduate level mathematical aptitude and knowledge of standard cash handling procedures.

Experience dealing directly with the public and basic customer service skills.

Fluent in oral and written English.

Ability to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.

Highly organized and able to pay attention to minute written and verbal details, especially when performing multiple tasks.

Physical Demands

Must be able to read written communications and view monochrome computer displays.

Must operate computer, calculator, and telephone keyboards for cash handling and paperwork processing.

Must understand and follow verbal/written instructions, work on more than one task at a time, and communicate both verbally and in writing.

90% of the shift involves standing; repeated bending and kneeling may be required.

Must be able to reach all areas of the hotel to assist clients and occasionally lift files and office items up to 25 lbs.

Environment Prolonged standing at an indoor, thermostatically climate‑controlled workstation under fluorescing lighting.
