Overnight Agent – The Ritz‑Carlton Apply for the Overnight Agent role with Sage Hospitality Group at The Ritz‑Carlton, Chicago. The hotel sits above Water Tower Place in the historic Gold Coast. Guests enjoy the city skyline from the rooftop lounge, the local restaurant, indoor lap pool, and spacious rooms overlooking the Chicago Loop.

Responsibilities

Greets arriving guests, completes check‑in procedures and ensures room assignments.

Facilitates daily check‑out, follows procedures to close guest accounts and prepare rooms for the next stay.

Calculates and posts monies, receipts and guest accounts accurately using proper cash handling methods.

Answers inquiries and accepts reservations in person and by telephone, communicating rates and using suggestive selling techniques to increase occupancy and revenue.

Maintains good customer relations, staying informed about all in‑house and area functions to answer questions promptly.

Operates PBX equipment—accepts incoming calls, assists outgoing calls, schedules wake‑up calls and pages guests for timely service.

Controls cash transactions at the front desk, maintaining responsibility for the personal bank as specified by hotel policy.

Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Six months experience in hospitality or a similar role.

High school graduate level mathematical aptitude, knowledge of standard cash handling procedures and computerized cash register systems.

Direct public‑service experience and general customer‑service skills.

Fluent oral and written English.

Ability to use tact and understanding in dealing with a variety of customer‑service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.

Highly organized and able to pay close attention to minute written and verbal details, especially when performing multiple tasks.

Physical Demands

Read written communication and monochrome computer screen.

Operate computer, calculator and telephone keyboards for cash handling and paperwork processing.

Understand and follow verbal/written instructions, work on more than one task at a time and communicate both verbally and in writing.

Standing 90% of shift, repeated bending and kneeling for filing.

Mobility—reach all areas of the hotel to assist clients.

Occasional standing and carrying/ lifting of files and office items up to 25 lbs.
