Electrical Engineer

Works directly with Engineering Manager, Department Engineers, Drafters, Program Managers, Production Personnel, and Customers. Will be responsible for the design, development and evaluation of marine electrical/electronic systems and other associated system interfaces including propulsion, HVAC, and navigation equipment. Conducts basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of materials, components, and equipment for all craft systems. Evaluates and develops processes to manufacture materials and components to meet specialized design and performance specifications. Tests or oversees initial manufacture and installation of equipment and components for marine craft systems. Typical activities will include AC/DC system design and schematic creation, providing technical guidance and documentation to production personnel and supporting project management and customers for concept design studies, new craft constructions, retrofits and conversions. Must have an understanding of low voltage marine AC and DC electrical systems, craft system wiring, AC and DC switchgear, control and monitoring systems, and navigation electronics. Must be proficient in using mathematical and physical models to ensure the adequacy of the design technically with respect to performance, operation and safety and in compliance with applicable industry requirements, specifications and standards. Must hold a bachelor's of science degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering field from an accredited university.
Skills & Experience
BSEE preferred
2+ years' experience in design, development and evaluation of marine electrical/electronic systems
Ability to design both AC and DC system one line diagrams and detailed wiring schematics using electrical design software such as AutoCad Electrical, Solidworks Electrical, EPLAN, etc.
Experience with embedded microcontrollers and firmware
Experience with 3D solid modeling a plus. Solidworks preferred
Experience with ABYC, IEEE-45 or ABS wiring standards preferred
Working knowledge of CANBUS and NMEA2000 based navigation electronics
Ability to create detailed engineering technical reports
Knowledge of PCB layout and schematic capture software
Experience with lean manufacturing practices and ISO 9000 standards a plus
Demonstrated experience using MS Office products, specifically, Word, Excel, and Projects
Ability to think outside the box and be self-sufficient
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance
