Sr. Plastics Manufacturing Process Engineer

Responsibilities
Focuses on improving equipment performance including gravimetric feeders, extruders and downstream equipment to improve uptime and rate and reduce scrap to improve plant performance
Participates in meetings related to plant performance, lead line efforts, engineering topics and special projects
Serves as key member of Production projects and team focusing on implementing recommended systems and equipment on model lines to improve metrics
Communicate with Operators, Leads, Engineers and leadership on areas of potential improvement and researches new equipment and processing methods to address those needs
Develop and successfully execute project plans to allow the business to meet SQDC product stability
Manages line commissioning efforts that occur after Preventive Maintenance event and manages open action item follow-up activities as well as report SUR metric and Yield before and after each line commission.
Researches and calculates cost savings opportunities and completes cost savings analysis justification
Designs auxiliary equipment for improved functionality (e.g. vent stuffers and mist tank improvements).
Performs additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervision/management
Adhere to “Zero Harm” safety approach in all activities
Integrate Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement in all projects
Responsible for specifying process tooling for engineer activities and projects
Manage improvement opportunities of all areas that go into improving our OEE metrics, Yield, Availability, and Run Rates
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (4-year college or technical school) in Engineering discipline
5-7+ years of manufacturing plant experience. Lean Six Sigma experience desirable.
Knowledge of plastics processing, or extrusion, injection or blow molding, and continuous experience;
Strong background in manufacturing systems, data collection and statistical analysis.
Demonstrated success in interfacing with internal (manufacturing, engineering, quality) and external (contractors, vendors) customers.
Excellent mechanical aptitude.
Controls knowledge, being able to troubleshoot and monitor simple control procedures.
Understand manufacturing processes and technologies.

Candidates should be data driven decision makers. This role will work on the factory floor to increase machine production yields, drive improvements to quality standards. Assess machine issues and take proactive corrective action. Training of operators.
The Aliquippa plant is a 24/7 production operation; at times, this position is required to be on call.
Candidate soft skills: good multitasking, experienced working well with vendors and contractors. Analytical. Good follow-up. Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting. Strong safety mindset. Able to red flag contractor safety issues
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. The annual salary for this position ranges from $99,000 in our lowest market up to $121,000 in our highest market, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable. The pay for roles at AZEK varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific work location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
