We're seeking someone to join our Domestic tax team as a Director in the Domestic Tax Group who will be responsible for the preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns, tax provision and tax analytics. In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm’s financial and capital resources. This Director level position within the Tax & Advisory job family ensures compliance with income and indirect tax filings, reports tax information for the Firm’s regulatory filings, manages the Firm’s global tax authority relationships, including tax controversy, and monitors relevant tax regulations and legislation. Additional responsibilities include managing the Firm’s domestic and international tax strategies, determining the Firm’s transfer‑pricing policies and advising Senior Management and BUs on business products, strategic transactions and restructuring objectives. What You’ll Do In The Role Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm Lead aspects of individual and team deliverables and projects, leveraging in‑depth knowledge of the Finance functional area, product and/or client segments Adhere to the Firm’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls; proactively identify ways to reduce risk in work Act as a culture carrier; embody and set an example of the Firm’s values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standards Tax compliance management, oversight for a high volume of tax adjustments, federal and state corporate income tax returns in a time‑sensitive environment for multiple legal entities across different businesses Actively participate in the preparation of federal consolidated forms and schedules Assist with the preparation of unitary and combined state and local tax returns Tax analysis, planning and analytics Tax audit support, including responding to IDRs Tax provision management and review, including separate company financial statements, monthly and quarterly ETR calculations Review quarterly federal and state deferred tax balances for regulatory reporting purposes Preparation and review of separate company income tax provision and footnote for audited financial statements Review monthly and quarterly effective tax rates Reconcile and validate income‑tax accounts and balance‑sheet tax accounts Analyse the income‑tax accounting impact of transactions Special projects What You’ll Bring To The Role In‑depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment and technical skills, as well as of industry and competitive environment Ability to operate independently with respect to most job responsibilities Ability to provide positive and constructive feedback and innovate processes Approximately 6‑10 years of hands‑on income tax experience in a corporate environment or public‑accounting firm Bachelor’s or master’s degree in tax or accounting Excellent analytical, organizational, and written and oral communication skills Experience covering tax issues in a real‑time environment Significant tax compliance and ASC740 experience Strong managerial skills, with a hands‑on approach Superior work ethic with high level of accountability Facility with Excel; knowledge of Corptax a plus Financial‑services industry experience preferable, but not required What You Can Expect From Morgan Stanley Commitment to diversity and inclusion Opportunity to work overall‑revenue‑ing … Seniority level: Director Employment type : Full‑time Job function : Accounting / Auditing and Finance Referrals is © …
