Communications Manager, Planning and Facilities Management

Job Overview The Planning and Facilities Management Communications Manager works across the Planning & Facilities Management (PFM) unit to increase awareness, understanding, and connection to PFM projects across the university. Working with the internal and operations communications team in the Office of Strategic Communications and Office of the Chief Operating Officer, the manager fosters an internal culture of transparency and shared understanding. The role involves designing strategic communication plans to effectively convey university messaging around PFM strategic initiatives and construction projects, coordinating with PFM leadership and internal stakeholders across the university, and drafting communications on behalf of the PFM unit and university leaders to students, faculty, staff, and the Georgetown community.
Work Interactions The position functions as a deputy to the Director of Internal Communications and Operations Communications within the Office of Strategic Communications to protect the university brand and position. Through strategic planning and collaboration, the manager contributes to the university’s communication strategies by generating increased visibility and awareness of the PFM’s construction projects, initiatives, and goals. The manager also supports internal communications for departments within the Office of the Chief Operating Officer, specifically University Information Services, Finance, Auxiliary Services, and Human Resources.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications or related field of study; one to two years of experience in facilities management, public relations, journalism, broadcasting, higher education, non‑profit institution, or related area.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Good judgment.
Ability to work on deadline.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
Flexibility.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
Ability to exercise diplomacy and manage a high-volume of communication initiatives at the same time.
Meeting tight deadlines.
Working under pressure and with an eye for detail.
Work Mode Designation This position has been designated as Hybrid. Work mode designations are regularly reviewed to meet the evolving needs of the University. Pay Range $41,926.00 – $65,090.00. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
