Communications Manager, Planning and Facilities Management
The Planning and Facilities Management Communications Manager works across the unit of Planning & Facilities Management (PFM) at Georgetown University to increase awareness, understanding, and connection to PFM projects across the university. The PFM communications manager works with the internal and operations communications team in the Office of Strategic Communications and Office of the Chief Operating Officer to foster an internal culture of transparency and shared understanding.
Job Overview The PFM Communications Manager will design strategic communication plans to effectively communicate university messaging around PFM strategic initiatives and construction projects. They will coordinate with PFM leadership as well as internal stakeholders across the university, to ensure accurate and timely communications of university updates and positions to internal and external audiences. They will draft communications from the PFM unit, as well as university leaders, to students, faculty, staff, and the Georgetown community.
Responsibilities The PFM Communications Manager works as a deputy to the Director of Internal Communications and Operations Communications within the Office of Strategic Communications to effectively communicate and protect the university brand and position. Through strategic planning and collaboration, the PFM Communications Manager contributes to the university's communications strategies by generating increased visibility and awareness of the PFM's construction projects, initiatives, and goals. They also support internal communications for departments within the Office of the Chief Operating Officer, specifically University Information Services, Finance, Auxiliary Services, and Human Resources.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications or related field of study; one to two years of experience in facilities management, public relations, journalism, broadcasting, higher education, non-profit institution or related area
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Good judgment
Ability to work on deadline
Demonstrated interpersonal skills
Flexibility
Willingness to work evenings and weekends
Ability to exercise diplomacy and manage a high-volume of communication initiative at the same time
Meeting tight deadlines
Working under pressure and with an eye for detail
Work Mode Designation This position has been designated as
Hybrid . Work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.
Pay Range $41,926.00 - $65,090.00. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications.
