BMZ USA, Inc. develops and produces high‑tech lithium‑ion battery systems and is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. BMZ USA is one of the four development and manufacturing sites of BMZ Group that employs almost 2,000 people worldwide. In the last five years, we have made significant progress in transitioning BMZ USA from a sales office into a development and manufacturing company. Position Summary Participate in the mechanical design, development, prototyping, and manufacturing support of lithium‑ion batteries, chargers, energy storage systems, and production solutions.

Job Functions

Design and draft parts, prints, and assemblies using SolidWorks.

Design for injection molding (plastics), sheet metal fabrication (stamping, bending, welding, and cutting), CNC machining, and 3D printing.

Prepare drawings from concept to support all phases of the product development lifecycle, including prototyping, design iteration, and mass production.

Contribute to a multi‑disciplinary product development team.

Lead or participate in the validation of internal and outsourced components and assemblies.

Provide technical expertise and consulting to customers and suppliers.

Provide technical guidance to members of the industrial engineering teams and management.

Participate in the design reviews of mechanical concepts, drawings, and designs of team members.

Collaborate with Project Leads, Purchasing, Production, and Quality departments during all stages of project development.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation as needed.

Prepare and maintain production documentation for parts and assemblies, such as bills of material (BOM).

Collaborate with the Quality department in developing project functional specifications, such as DFMEA, FMEA, and design qualification documents (PPAP, etc.).

Provide technical guidance to members of various engineering teams and management.

Occasional travel required (both domestic and international).

Minimum Essential Skills And Experience

BSME with significant experience (DENG or MS favored).

5+ years of related experience in electronics packaging and manufacturing.

8+ years of experience with CAD design in SolidWorks.

Fluent in English and able to communicate with others effectively.

Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Additional Valued Skills And Experience (not Required)

Strong understanding of injection molding (plastics) tool design.

Strong understanding of ingress (dust/water) protection strategies.

Extensive experience with CAD modeling systems (e.g., SolidWorks).

Strong quantitative, design, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Experience with wirebonding technologies.

Experience with encapsulant injection.

Experience with laser and ultrasonic welding technologies.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, employees will frequently and may, for long periods, perform CAD operations and other desktop functions. Vision abilities required. Core working hours are per the office schedule, typically 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST, Monday through Friday; occasional overtime and weekend hours will be required. Noise levels in some manufacturing facilities may exceed the normal dBA. Work conditions may include elevated noise levels requiring hearing protection. Employees may be exposed to mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock. Employees may be required to occasionally wear PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and proper grounding equipment to prevent electrostatic discharge.
