Overview
TEKsystems is hiring a Contract to Hire Mortgage Underwriting Specialist to support loan approvals from Plano, TX (fully remote). The role focuses on reviewing broker files, ensuring compliance with FHA, VA, and conventional guidelines, and collaborating with loan teams to achieve timely approvals.
Responsibilities
Review and assess files submitted by broker clients, ensuring compliance with FHA, VA, and conventional lending guidelines.
Work closely with the loan structure and precision income teams to finalize approvals.
Perform thorough credit analysis, underwriting 2–3 initial files per day and processing 6–8 final approval files daily (subject to volume).
Ensure loans meet investor guidelines (FHA UW, HUD UW, VA UW, VA IRRL, VA SAR, TrumID Registration) and adhere to quality control standards.
Make decisions across the full range of mortgage loans, preferably including FHA loans.
Review all mortgage applications and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Work with clients to prepare mortgage applications and related documentation as needed, helping resolve any outstanding issues.
Qualifications
3+ years of mortgage underwriting experience (recent experience is preferred).
Solid knowledge of mortgage underwriting and basic automated underwriting systems.
Proficiency with automated underwriting systems.
Strong understanding of FHA, VA, and conventional loan underwriting.
Experience with DE or SAR is a plus.
Ability to work remotely in restricted states (except Texas).
