Full-time, 8‑Hour shift (Hybrid)

A Brief Overview Provides supervision and management of advanced practice providers (APPs) in a distinct clinical service line. Provides clinical direction and education, works closely with operational and physician leaders, and has oversight of hiring, termination, and professional growth and development of their APPs. Also functions under the general Nurse Practitioner (NP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), or the Physician Assistant (PA) Job Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC).

What You Will Do

Clinical Oversight and Leadership:

Co‑direct the clinical, operational, and administrative initiatives with the Medical Director and unit nursing management team; conduct regular meetings with staff APPs; ensure competency and policy adherence through practice analysis and case review; investigate patient/family complaints; orient and educate new staff; represent in hospital‑wide committees; serve on professional and evaluation committees; ensure operational mandates such as C‑I‑CARE rounds are completed.

Administration:

Review financial planning; participate in hiring, evaluation, coaching, mentoring, discipline of staff; investigate and resolve operational issues; coordinate quality improvement/process improvement programs; provide 24‑hour on‑call coverage; coordinate APP scheduling; perform additional duties as assigned.

Internal and External Legal/Regulatory Issues:

Ensure compliance; participate in Medical Staff Services initiatives, policies and procedures; advocate for practice models allowing clinicians to practice to their fullest scope; participate in regional and national discussions affecting APP practice; work with hospital operations regarding funding/billing/reimbursement models; engage in legislative and health policy issues.

Education Qualifications

Advanced Practice Nurse:

Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing or other healthcare‑related field from an accredited university.

Physician Assistant:

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Physician Assistant Studies, or Healthcare related field from an accredited university.

Experience Qualifications

A minimum of 1 year as a licensed advanced practice provider (Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist).

Three years of APP experience preferred.

Management experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Management principles and practices: hiring, evaluation, counseling, termination; budgeting; employee recognition and rewards.

Practice evaluation and process improvement.

National professional organization and regulatory agency initiatives.

Standards of care for APP roles.

Clinical competence and in‑depth specialty knowledge.

Knowledge of trauma services operation.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written); ability to engage diverse groups.

Strong planning, organization, prioritization, independent work, and deadline management.

Proficiency in evidence‑based practice, research utilization, innovation implementation, and participation in research or quality projects.

Educational strategy to develop staff and deliver quality care.

Process improvement facilitation and contribution to institution‑wide initiatives.

Full‑time availability.

Licenses and Certifications

Physician Assistant: State licensure.

Registered Nurse: Valid California license and one of the following advanced practice licenses—NP, CNS, or CRNA—with current national certification.

Base Pay Scale:

Starting at $100.03 – $132.51 per hour. Final salary depends on internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
