RH is seeking a Director of Construction Finance and Cost Accounting to provide strategic leadership and operational excellence across a diverse portfolio of projects. This leader will oversee all phases of the construction lifecycle—from predevelopment through closeout with an unwavering focus on quality, cost control, and team performance. The ideal candidate is both a strategic builder and a disciplined operator who combines technical expertise with business acumen, ensuring that every project reflects RH’s uncompromising standards of design, vision, and quality.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with the Pre-Construction team to review, track, and report in-house construction budgets, ensuring they align with RH’s strategic, financial, and design objectives.

Create and maintain comprehensive project cost reports, providing real-time visibility into the financial health of each project and portfolio-wide performance.

Lead monthly and regular reporting of project costs, delivering clear analysis, insights, and variance explanations to senior leadership to inform strategic decisions.

Collaborate closely with the RH Finance team on all financial reporting and associated deadlines, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across all submissions.

Partner with Construction leaders to review change orders and purchase orders on projects under construction, ensuring alignment with approved budgets, scopes, and priorities.

Direct cost management and financial oversight, including forecasting, reconciliations, and lifecycle management of the project

Build and maintain strong partnerships across internal teams (Design, Development, Legal, Finance, Merchandising, and Operations) and with external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders

Partner with Construction Leaders to review contracts and manage consultant and contractor onboarding, ensuring fiscal responsibility and scope alignment.

Lead, mentor, and inspire high-performing team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Serve as a thought leader, driving innovation, cost efficiency, and process improvement to elevate RH’s construction and financial performance.

OUR REQUIREMENTS

10+ years of experience in commercial construction finance, preferably within luxury, retail, and/or hospitality sectors, with proven leadership managing projects and teams across multiple locations; experience in ground-up, adaptive reuse, and historic renovations preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field required; advanced degree or certifications preferred

Proven expertise in construction financial analysis and cost control

Deep understanding of construction processes and terminology, contracts, scheduling, and building systems across diverse asset types

Demonstrated business acumen with a record of success in real estate development, commercial construction, and financial oversight

Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence executive leadership and external partners.

Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and conflict resolution skills with a focus on integrity and professionalism

Proficiency with financial systems/software,with related experience in project management and cost tracking software such as Microsoft Project, Office Suite, Procore, or Smartsheet

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional travel for site visits, vendor engagement, and project oversight

Spends time in construction sites, retail galleries, and properties under development

Frequent standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods

Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls

Frequent reaching with hands and arms; occasional climbing, kneeling, or crouching

Occasional lifting or moving of objects

Visual tasks may include close vision, distance vision, color differentiation, peripheral vision, and depth perception
