We’re seeking a
Senior Mechanical Engineer
to lead the mechanical and equipment design for our advanced pyrolysis plants—including critical systems like pyrolysis reactors, heavy oil condensing, and carbon finishing units. This is a high-impact role supporting the completion of an ongoing brownfield project and driving forward a new greenfield initiative. You’ll play a key part in scaling and commercializing cutting-edge clean tech.
Responsibilities
Develop the design basis for key process equipment (pyrolysis reactors, condensing systems, etc.)
Lead design, scale-up, and fabrication of mechanical systems central to our proprietary process technology
Create detailed mechanical designs aligned with process targets: yield, throughput, runtime, and quality
Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external consultants/contractors to execute design deliverables
Serve as the Owner’s Mechanical Lead during FEED and EPC phases—reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets and specifications, RFQs, and more
Review and approve complex engineering analysis: stress, thermal, FEA, and CFD simulations
Develop equipment specifications (pumps, heat exchangers, valves, etc.) and define QA/QC processes for fabrication and procurement
Support upgrades and revamps at existing operating facilities, collaborating closely with Operations and Maintenance teams
Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (ASME, API, TEMA, etc.), especially relevant to the pyrolysis industry
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in field operations, from construction to commissioning
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
12+ years of experience in mechanical/equipment design within oil & gas, gasification, or pyrolysis industries
Strong background in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, and piping systems
Advanced skills in interpreting and creating PFDs, P&IDs, GA drawings, and layout designs
Experience as owner’s lead engineer in an EPC environment
Deep understanding of industry codes (ASME, ASTM, API, TEMA)
Proficiency in FEA/CFD modeling and tools like AutoCAD, Caesar-II, SolidWorks, ANSYS
Hands-on experience supporting field design, construction, startup, and commissioning
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Detail-oriented with a strong quality mindset
Proven ability to lead projects and work within cross-disciplinary teams
Bonus: Knowledge of bulk solids handling and pneumatic system design
Benefits
Career Growth: Training and development programs
Employee Recognition: Real-time appreciation with personalized rewards
Time Off: Generous PTO and paid sick leave
Comprehensive Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision for employees and families
Security: Short-term/long-term disability and life insurance at no cost to employee
