Position Overview At Bronson Hospital, we are committed to keeping our patients and visitors safe and healthy. As an Environmental Service Associate, you will help maintain cleanliness and infection control across the hospital, playing an essential role in ensuring a clean, safe environment for all.
Responsibilities
Clean and sanitize patient rooms (both occupied and unoccupied), public areas, surgical areas, and other spaces as assigned.
Stock supplies and keep equipment clean and in working order.
Follow safety and infection control guidelines to ensure the hospital is always clean and safe.
Provide excellent service to both hospital staff and patients.
Work closely with the Environmental Services Manager to make sure all tasks are completed to the highest standards.
Follow detailed instructions and regularly check your work to meet quality standards.
Additional Responsibilities (Special Areas)
Collect, label and organize all biomedical waste for pickup by the waste hauler.
Collect, transport and take all recycling to compactor or combined dumpster.
Transport waste to appropriate compactor or outside dumpster as needed.
Change privacy curtains where needed.
Round, inspect and maintain all assigned areas within scope, including lab work areas, offices, restrooms, waiting areas, patient procedure rooms, stairwells, receiving dock, ambulatory storage, EVS closets, bio storage rooms, recycling areas, elevator landing, etc.
Proper use of and maintenance of all assigned floor care machinery, including auto scrubbers, corded and battery‑powered vacuums, iMop, burnishers and side‑by‑side scrubbers.
Physical Demands
Standing, sitting, walking; frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Can lift and push supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs; occasional use of stepladder at 4 ft.
Can work in confined spaces and occupied areas; occasional exposure to electrical equipment.
Must maintain good balance when performing duties and walk stairs when necessary.
Required protective clothing may include gloves, eye protection, face protection, and shoe covers.
Qualifications

Attention to detail and ability to follow safety and cleanliness guidelines.
Good teamwork and ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
Good communication skills and willingness to learn.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and stay focused on the task at hand.
Previous experience in cleaning or maintenance (plus, not required).
Requirements
Effective April 19, 2021: a high school diploma or GED is no longer required.
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English at or above the 8th‑grade level.
Must possess interpersonal skills that represent Bronson in a positive and professional manner.
Must exhibit excellent customer service skills, thoroughness, and time‑management abilities.
Must be able to comfortably accept delegation and negotiate task priorities.
