System Safety Engineer (Mid‑Level or Senior) Join Boeing’s BCA In‑Service Safety Organization as a System Safety Engineer in Everett, Washington.

You will work independently and lead teams that evaluate potential safety issues, make recommendations for product safety decisions, and support program and functional leadership in making informed safety choices.

In this role you will focus on evaluating the safety of our commercial aircraft during service, working closely with Air Safety Investigation, quality organizations, certification experts, and functional teams.

Position Responsibilities

Lead the Continued Operational Safety process for events reported through 14 CFR 21.3.

Coordinate with Boeing functional groups, management, suppliers, and airlines to align on safety issue status and resolution.

Evaluate safety issues, define hazards, perform risk analysis, and determine corrective action timelines using Boeing and FAA methodologies.

Ensure solutions mitigate fleet safety concerns and coordinate with FAA for independent safety decisions.

Lead Safety Lessons Learned investigations to address systemic root causes and prevent recurrence.

Partner with Enterprise Safety and SMS to continuously improve processes and tools.

Champion product safety initiatives, objectives, and milestones.

Successful Mid‑Level (Level 3) Candidate Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with a multi‑discipline team.

Intrinsic aptitude for taking initiative, leading cross‑functional teams and projects.

Willingness to take ownership of work activities to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely completion.

Successful Senior (Levels 4 & 5) Candidate Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to interact with senior management and technical peers, including airlines and regulatory agencies.

Experience leading and mentoring a multi‑discipline team.

Intrinsic aptitude for taking initiative, leading cross‑functional teams and complex projects.

Willingness to take ownership of work activities to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely completion.

Basic Qualifications (Required)

Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry.

Level 3: 5+ years of related experience or equivalent education/experience.

Level 4: 9+ years of related experience or equivalent education/experience.

Level 5: 14+ years of related experience or equivalent education/experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) tools or Boeing Problem‑Solving Model (BPSM).

1+ year of experience with commercial airplane operation, certification, safety requirements and procedures.

Knowledge of 14 CFR 21.3 Operational‑Safety reporting processes.

Experience working with FAA or other regulatory agencies.

Experience in commercial airplane‑systems design or analysis (e.g., flight controls, hydraulics, avionics, fuel systems).

Knowledge of hazard analyses, FMEAs, threat assessments, fault trees, and system safety risk assessments.

Valid pilot’s license or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license.

Location & Work Arrangement 100% onsite at Everett, Washington.

This position requires on‑site presence throughout the term.

Pay ranges are:

Mid‑Level: $114,750 - $155,250

Senior (Level 4): $138,550 - $187,450

Senior (Level 5): $165,750 - $224,250
