Student Assistance Professional - Prevention & Intervention

Puget Sound Educational Service District seeks a dynamic, highly skilled Student Assistance Professional to provide prevention and early intervention directly to students (ages 10-21) at Bethel School District. The role implements comprehensive student assistance programs that address problems associated with substance use, violence, and mental health issues. The position reports to the Assigned Administrator and resides in Bethel Middle School and Cougar Mountain Middle School. Essential Functions

Assists in developing drug and alcohol related policies at schools to ensure best practice standards. Attends training meetings at PSESD for staff development and program effectiveness assessment. Conducts early intervention programs for students experimenting with alcohol/drug use or suspended for alcohol/drug use to reduce substance abuse and improve health and learning preparedness. Coordinates activities with the student assistance team to identify high‑risk students and refer them to school and community‑based services. Develops and implements work plans to prioritize school service needs at each site to maintain program standards. Develops and implements an identification and referral process for staff, students, and parents to provide substance abuse reduction strategies and improve health and learning preparedness. Develops and implements prevention plans to ensure students are safe, healthy, supported, engaged, challenged, and actively participating in their school experiences. Embodies the principles and practices that form the culture and commitment to becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization to meet the Agency’s End: Success for Each Child and Eliminating the Opportunity Gap. Facilitates school‑based recovery support groups to decrease substance abuse and improve health and learning preparedness. Maintains confidential program records and files; compiles and inputs data to comply with funding requirements and maintain best practices. Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and gather information required to perform job functions. Participates in program evaluation to evaluate program effectiveness. Presents program components to students and teachers to share resources that support substance abuse reduction and improve health and learning preparedness. Provides standardized screening and referral information to students and parents participating in the prevention/intervention program to assist students with effective intervention support. Provides individual & family counseling services within the student assistance framework in conformance with established guidelines. Provides school wide awareness (prevention) programs for staff, students, and parents to reduce and/or mitigate substance abuse and improve health and learning preparedness. Provides staff development training on various topics (e.g., tobacco, alcohol and drug prevention, intervention, mental health, physical health, engagement strategies, etc.) to share expertise and resources on prevention/intervention strategies and build team capacity. Recordkeeping and Documentation: Gathers, organizes, and maintains records following confidential information and security protocols as needed. Accurately documents relevant/essential actions, processes, and practices. Minimum Qualifications

AA degree or higher in Social Services, Human Services, Counseling, or another related field; or a SUDP, SUDP/T, or High School Diploma/GED equivalent with increasing years of relevant job‑related experience. Candidates with a high school diploma/GED must agree to obtain a CPP within 18 months of start date with agency support. Experience working in a youth serving program or agency with an emphasis on prevention and early intervention of violence, alcohol, tobacco, and/or other drug use, mental health, or other social or public health issues. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with school‑based student assistance programs or youth‑based educational support groups. Experience working with community‑based coalitions. Presentation experience. Experience working with diverse populations. We Offer Comprehensive Benefits
