Early Career Geotechnical Engineer WSP is seeking an Early Career Geotechnical Engineer to support projects across New England. Applicants can work out of Boston, MA, North Providence, RI, Glastonbury, CT, Worcester, MA, Shelton, CT and other WSP offices.

Responsibilities

Perform field observation and special inspections of subsurface investigations in soils and rock.

Assist in geotechnical engineering design and analyses for bridges, buildings, tunnels, underground structures, and retaining walls under minimal supervision of senior engineers.

Assist in preparation or drafting of geotechnical memoranda, data reports, and design reports.

Perform field observation and special inspections of geotechnical construction.

Assist task leaders in preparation of reports and contract documents.

Collaborate with other disciplines and project partners.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering, or a closely-related field.

0 to 3 years of relevant experience.

Proven knowledge of geotechnical engineering and working knowledge of related disciplines (Structures, Civil, and/or Environmental).

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline‑specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoSlope, Plaxis, LPILE, GRLWEAP, SEEP/W) and general tools.

Must be flexible to a variety of schedules, capable of prioritizing responsibilities, and able to adapt quickly to changes.

Ability and willingness to travel and perform field work.

Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.

Uphold workplace safety and comply with WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

Engineer in Training certification.

Prior design and/or construction experience of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects.

Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards.

Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.

Member of or active participation in local professional practice organizations.

Compensation Expected salary range: $56,300 – $92,900. WSP USA reserves the right to offer higher or lower compensation based on experience and geographic location.
