Early Career Geotechnical Engineer WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Geotechnical Engineer! This position can sit out of the following offices: Boston-MA, North Providence-RI, Glastonbury-CT, Worcester-MA, Shelton-CT, and other WSP offices throughout New England can be considered.

Your Impact

Perform field observation and special inspection of subsurface investigations in soils and rock

Assist in geotechnical engineering design and analyses for bridges, buildings, tunnels, underground structures, and retaining walls under minimal supervision of senior engineers

Assist in preparation or drafting geotechnical memoranda, data reports and design reports

Perform field observation and special Inspection of geotechnical construction

Assist task leaders in preparation of reports and Contract Documents

Collaborate with other disciplines and project partners

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering, or a closely-related field.

0 to 3 years of relevant experience

Proven knowledge of geotechnical engineering and working knowledge of related disciplines (Structures, Civil, and/or Environmental)

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline‑specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoSlope, Plaxis, Settle, LPILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, SEEP/W, RockSciences Software, etc), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and other tools.

Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in work environment

Ability and willingness to travel and perform field work

Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

Upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications

Engineer in Training Certification.

Prior design and/or construction experience of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects.

Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards

Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.

A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.

Compensation Expected Salary Range: $56,300-$92,900
