Geotechnical Engineer 2, Tampa FL with Atlas #795 Atlas is a nationwide leader in civil engineering, materials testing and geotechnical consulting services. We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer 2 to join our Tampa, FL team.

Job Responsibilities Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from proposal stage through completion, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule compliance.

Plan, oversee, and interpret geotechnical field and laboratory testing programs, including soil borings, test pits, percolation tests, and ground improvement evaluations.

Prepare and review geotechnical engineering reports, foundation recommendations, and construction guidelines.

Provide technical guidance, training, and oversight to engineers and field technicians.

Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project requirements and expectations are met.

Support business development activities, including preparing proposals, attending client meetings, and maintaining relationships with existing and prospective clients.

Conduct site visits and construction observations for foundations, earthwork, and pavement-related projects to ensure compliance with engineering recommendations.

Maintain familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations relevant to geotechnical engineering and construction practices.

Promote a strong safety culture in field and office operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice, with a focus on design, analysis, subsurface investigations, construction materials testing and inspections, project management, and construction supervision. Business development experience is preferred.

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida.

Established client base with proven ability to bring in new geotechnical projects, foster relationships, and expand the client portfolio.

Familiarity with local engineering practices, permitting processes, and industry standards in the State of Florida.

Technical Requirements Technical requirements:

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to lead geotechnical projects, manage staff engineers and technicians, and work effectively in a team environment.

Extensive geotechnical expertise, including strong foundational knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, soil and rock mechanics, pavement engineering, and groundwater hydrology.

Proficiency in preparing detailed geotechnical proposals, technical reports, and engineering recommendations.

Experience providing construction oversight for foundations, earthwork, pavement evaluation, and related infrastructure projects.

Proficiency with geotechnical engineering software and tools for analysis and design.

Other Qualities Other miscellaneous qualities:

Ability to travel within Florida, as required.

Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Ability to pass a background check for clearance to work on various private and government projects.
