Location: Houston, TX | Contract | 6 months | Start: As Soon As Possible
Job Summary
The
Cost Analyst
will play a key role in supporting project financial control, ensuring accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting for engineering and construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers and Cost Specialists, this position will help maintain project budgets, manage invoices, and identify cost optimization opportunities in a
fast-paced, collaborative environment . Key Responsibilities
Create project structures in SAP and EcoSys to support project setup and requisition processes. Establish and input initial project budgets in coordination with Cost Specialists and Project Managers. Review and validate invoices and purchase orders for proper coding, compliance, and budget allocation. Submit monthly accruals and ensure timely payment processing. Facilitate asset registration and commitment tracking. Resolve invoice discrepancies and support cost reporting requirements. Identify and recommend cost savings and process efficiency improvements. Provide cost data and updates to management and finance teams as required. Required Experience
Minimum 5 years of cost control or cost engineering experience, preferably in oil and gas or large-scale industrial projects. Strong understanding of cost management principles and project financial control processes. Proven experience with SAP, Excel, and cost control systems. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. Nice-to-Have Experience
Background in engineering, procurement, or construction (EPC) projects. Experience with major oil and gas operators or complex project portfolios. Familiarity with project planning and scheduling principles. Experience using EcoSys and Power BI for cost reporting and data visualization. Required Skills
Strong analytical and financial reporting skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data. Preferred Skills
Professional certifications such as AACE CCP, PMP, or equivalent. Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities. Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Additional Skills
Budget setup and validation. Cross-functional collaboration with finance, procurement, and engineering teams. Cost tracking and forecasting. Benefits
