Position Summary The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a fellowship-trained Obstetric Anesthesiologist (open rank) dedicated to outstanding clinical care, education, and academic excellence. UNC Hospitals, located on the main UNC campus in Chapel Hill, NC, is a premier academic medical center providing comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care. Our Division of Obstetric Anesthesia serves a diverse and complex patient population, supports an ACGME-accredited fellowship program, and participates actively in resident and medical student education. UNC performs more than 4,400 deliveries annually, including high-risk maternal and fetal cases.
Selected candidates will collaborate closely with Maternal‑Fetal Medicine colleagues, manage advanced perinatal care (including fetal surgery programs), and contribute to scholarly activities. The physician will be a member of the faculty practice with opportunities for teaching, research, and academic advancement.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent).
Completed an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency program and be ABA certified or eligible.
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship.
Eligible for licensure in North Carolina.>
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong interest in academic medicine and commitment to teaching graduate-level learners.
Excellence in clinical care, education, and scholarship.
Comfort providing care independently and within a collaborative care team model.
Experience supervising fellows, residents, CRNAs, CAAs and working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues.
