Purpose We are seeking a dynamic, results‑driven Director of Additive Manufacturing to elevate and scale our operations. In this role, you’ll inspire and empower a growing team to achieve exceptional results, driving precision and innovation in our additive production capabilities. The Additive Manufacturing department leverages proprietary, state‑of‑the‑art systems and processes to execute metal 3D printing, de‑powdering, manual and automated support removal, surface finishing, heat treat, and inspection operations across multiple factory sites for prototype and rate industrial production. The Role Operational Excellence

Champion department operations, ensuring efficient resource use and driving continuous improvement.

Build and mentor a high‑performance team, fostering a results‑driven culture.

Develop programs to support team growth and development.

Strategic Leadership

Develop a vision for scaling additive manufacturing operations, leveraging data and sound judgment.

Partner with the Platform Development team to onboard new technologies and capabilities.

Provide insights and contextual data to inform ongoing and future capability development.

Performance Monitoring and Compliance

Ensure adherence to manufacturing execution systems and work instructions.

Utilize key performance metrics to inform decisions and manage team performance.

Develop holistic, actionable performance reports.

Safety, Quality and Financial Management

Promote a safety‑first culture aligned with EHS practices and policies.

Collaborate with the EHS team to develop safety programs.

Develop and manage the additive manufacturing division's budget.

Basic Qualifications

Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls.

Proven ability to lead complex manufacturing operations.

Deep understanding of operational leadership and human nature.

Strong background in industrial manufacturing, data‑informed decision making, and continuous improvement.

Proven ability to execute in a startup environment, with an emphasis on building new capability and navigating uncertainty and rapid change.

Ability to successfully partner with cross‑functional, technical teams to drive change.

Demonstrated success in building and mentoring high‑performance teams, with understanding of how to manage a variety of personnel at scale.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, weld engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical expertise).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in additive manufacturing.

Experience with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP).

Knowledge of AI‑driven manufacturing optimization and digital twin technology.

Compensation At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels M08 - M09 as evaluated through our interview process.

M08 / Director: $192,300 - 264,450

M09 / Senior Director: $223,100 - 278,900

Pay Range: $192,300 - 278,900 USD
