The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking an academically‑oriented
pediatric optometrist
to join our Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience.
The University Hospitals Eye Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at University Hospitals / Case Western Reserve University bring together world‑renowned physicians and leading research scientists to prevent, treat, and cure the most prevalent and devastating diseases of the eye—all while training the next generation of ophthalmologists and optometrists.
Research & Training The department supports an ACOE Optometry Residency Program, in partnership with The Ohio State University, hosts optometric externs from up to five schools and colleges of optometry each semester, an 18‑resident Ophthalmology residency training program (six per year), and fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, and Retina. A robust and active clinical trials team (Vision Research Coordinating Center) supports investigator‑initiated trials as well as NIH and corporate‑sponsored studies. The Visual Science Research Center, led by the department, is a top‑funded basic science research group supported by P‑30 core and T‑32 training grants. Clinical research opportunities are available working with our nationally recognized Vision Research Coordinating Center.

Team & Responsibilities The successful candidate will join a dedicated and growing team of two Pediatric Ophthalmologists and one Pediatric Optometrist who manage over 13,500 patient visits per year at five locations throughout Northeast Ohio. Our team provides comprehensive, compassionate vision care to children whose needs range from general eye exams to the treatment of the most complex childhood eye diseases and disorders.
