Position Summary The Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine is nationally recognized for its excellence in ophthalmic care and groundbreaking research. As one of only 16 centers in the United States offering BostonSight PROSE treatment, we are seeking a highly qualified optometrist to join our elite team and uphold our commitment to exceptional patient care.
Salary Range: $120,000 – $135,000 per year
Schedule: Full-time
This role centers on the evaluation and management of patients with complex corneal disease using BostonSight PROSE devices – custom‑designed prosthetic devices that restore vision, support ocular surface health, and improve quality of life. The successful candidate will develop advanced expertise in the design, customization, and fitting of these devices, as well as provide comprehensive education and training to patients on their use.
Additional responsibilities include educating referring providers, third‑party payors, and patients about the clinical benefits and therapeutic applications of PROSE treatment.
Education & Experience Requirements
Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
Completion of an optometric residency or fellowship (Cornea and Contact Lens specialization strongly preferred)
Demonstrated interest in clinical research and education related to complex corneal disease
1–5 years of relevant clinical experience
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Licensure & Certification
Current eligibility or active licensure to practice optometry in the State of Texas
Authorization to prescribe diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceutical agents in accordance with state regulations

Proficiency in electronic health record systems
Exceptional written communication skills for clinical documentation and correspondence
Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
Collaborative mindset and experience working in multidisciplinary teams

Skilled in managing patient expectations and resolving concerns effectively
Key Responsibilities Clinical Care
Diagnose and manage corneal diseases using the full scope of optometric procedures and therapeutic modalities
Perform complex refractions for patients with irregular corneas and conduct thorough ocular health assessments
Utilize advanced diagnostic tools—including slit lamp biomicroscopy, corneal topography, pachymetry, anterior segment photography, and confocal microscopy—to evaluate and document corneal pathology
Conduct medical consultations to determine candidacy for BostonSight PROSE treatment
Design, customize, and fit PROSE devices tailored to individual patient needs
Provide hands‑on training and ongoing support to patients in the use and care of their devices
Troubleshoot device‑related challenges and optimize treatment outcomes
