Position Summary The Department of Orthopaedics at UNC – Chapel Hill is seeking a full‑time board certified/eligible academic orthopaedic sports surgeon.

The ideal candidate will have expertise or a strong interest in shoulder, hip, elbow, and knee, including advanced cartilage restoration, osteotomies, and multi‑ligament knee injuries.

Arthroplasty of the knee is an additional bonus.

The successful applicant will hold an open‑rank academic appointment, teach orthopaedic residents and fellows, engage in scholarship and research, and contribute to the robust Primary Care Sports team that cares for UNC athletes and the wider North Carolina health system.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

MD or DO degree

Board certified or board eligible in orthopaedic surgery with a current license in North Carolina

Fellowship‑trained in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Strong interest in complex knee conditions within sports medicine

Experience with advanced cartilage restoration, osteotomies, and multi‑ligament knee injuries

Experience or interest in arthroplasty of the knee (bonus)
