Job overview and responsibilities

This position will be part of the Facilities (FX) and Ground Support Equipment (GSE-GX) maintenance and engineering management team. This position will provide subject matter expertise for United Ground Support Equipment supporting a continuous improvement business model and strategy that enables United to provide dependable GSE equipment, cost savings initiatives and efficient total cost of ownership.

This role will collaborate and provide subject matter expertise for maintenance and engineering programs supporting GSE maintenance based on mission requirements GSE aircraft effectivity, station modeling methodologies, equipment capabilities, environmental, and federal / local governance.

Coordinates with internal and external partners for GSE & facility and asset program development and execution

Identifies, evaluates, and implements continuous improvements to GSE asset models that reflect the most current operational approaches and optimized equipment use

Responsible for project execution including planning, design, material ordering, installation, testing and implementation

Assists with the design, implementation, and/or modification of GSE to address safety, reliability, and performance issues

Leads team in developing technical specifications for GSE investment and modification

Provides guidance to ensure engineering integrity of new and existing facilities assets for safe, dependable, and cost-effective operations

Coordinates GSE reliability program

Includes collection of operational data, trends, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and identification of corrective actions to ensure the effectiveness of the maintenance programs

Focuses on predictive, preventive maintenance that will maximize planned maintenance, reduce unplanned, reactive maintenance, and improve

in-service time for facilities buildings and assets

Assists with technical parameters of preventative maintenance programs and maintenance optimization in accordance with manufacture, regulatory, and industry best practices for building systems, passenger boarding bridge, related equipment, Ground Service Equipment, and infrastructure

Collaborates to the development of maintenance monitoring strategy, systems, and infrastructure to support proactive and predictive maintenance for company assets

Contributes to the development of technical engineering, maintenance, safety program management, system reliability and life cycle management analysis, and systems training curriculum development

Qualifications What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

Associate degree or 2 years of relevant work experience in Building, automotive, or mechanical maintenance.

3+ years of repairing GSE equipment

3+ years of modifications or build new GSE

Versed in NEC and NFPA rules and regulations, ASE certifications, DOT/CDL rules

3+ years of experience overseeing GSE, project management and/or engineering and technical management

3+ years of experience leading asset improvement initiatives and/or process improvement projects/programs

Experience leading teams in multiple locations

Strong planning and communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, identifying improvement opportunities

Ability to build strong internal and external business relationships

Ability to manage product quality and performance of multiple vendors

Ability to read and interpret, electrical system and mechanical system drawings and schematics

Advanced skills with productivity and collaboration tools including MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience in Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial controls, digital technology, controls networks, machinist, welding, auto/diesel powertrains, electric vehicles

HVAC certification, powertrain design, hydraulic theory, electrical theory, OSHA 30

3+ years of experience with airline GSE and operations

HVAC, electrical, and hydraulic systems,

3+ experience in an airline operations environment involving asset planning and management

1+ years digital technology architecture, networking, security, or applications development

Experience participating in sophisticated matrixed operations in airport/aviation setting

Experience leading teams and suppliers in multiple locations

Proven capability to influence and manage change

Accountable for consistent and clear communication to team, leadership, and collaborators

Ability to translate technical requirements for business groups

The base pay range for this role is $87,780.00 to $114,376.00.

The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
