Summary

Eligible for Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) a student loan payment reimbursement program. Must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine Degree obtained from a VA approved school in the year of completion Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty leading to board certification Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) may be appointed when fully licensed and under intermittent or fee basis; PRPs are not independent practitioners and perform supervised restricted duties Proficiency in spoken and written English Preferred Experience: Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine Physical Requirements: Meet position physical requirements; pre‑placement medical exam and drug screening required Duties

Hospitalist role requiring night shift work from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Comprehensive clinical assessment and timely documentation per VA medical bylaws Evidence‑based treatment planning reflecting shared decision‑making with the Veteran Obtain informed consent prior to procedures or treatments, discussing risks, benefits, and potential complications Guideline‑concordant empiric antimicrobial selection when applicable Tobacco cessation counseling prior to discharge Closed ICU work schedule; full time with nights varying 7 p‑7 a Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases; 50‑55 days paid time off per year Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5 % contributions by VA; full benefit package including health, vision, dental, life, long‑term care No physician employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
