Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of an FQHC Controller include: • Financial Reporting and General Ledger Management: Overseeing all accounting functions (accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger) and managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes to produce timely and accurate financial statements. • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with the annual budget process, preparing financial forecasts, and analyzing variances between planned and actual results to guide financial decisions and support long-term planning. • Grant Budgeting and Compliance: Assist Program Managers and the Development Department Team in preparing and submitting grant budgets and financial analyses. Ensure monitoring and compliance with funder's requirements. Maintain grant and contract reconciliation, submissions, and billing. • Audits and Compliance: Serving as the primary liaison for all internal and external audits, including year-end financial statement audits and federal/state compliance reviews. This includes ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and FQHC-specific regulations, such as those from HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) and MassHealth (Massachusetts Medicaid agency). • Revenue Cycle Management: Recording and reporting accurate medical/dental billing, collections, and revenue recognition processes, which often involves specific FQHC payment models and systems (e.g., Prospective Payment System, MassHealth's Alternative Payment Methodologies). • Internal Controls and Risk Management: Developing, implementing, and monitoring strong internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard the organization's assets and prevent fraud. • Staff Management and Collaboration: Supervising the finance and accounting team, providing leadership and mentorship, and collaborating closely with clinical and administrative department heads to ensure alignment of financial goals with the health center's mission. • System Management: Managing and leveraging financial systems and software (e.g., OCHIN Epic, Power BI, MTP, Adaptive) for efficient operations and data analysis. • Other duties assigned
