ADACI is looking for a licensed tax and accounting professional with at least 5 years of experience serving a diverse clientele.

ADACI is a boutique tax and business advisory firm nestled in the heart of downtown Oakland. In business since 2009, we specialize in serving entrepreneurs, investors, nonprofits, and high‑net‑worth clientele.

While tax planning, advisory, and resolution work is our primary offering, we also provide business advisory, creation, and transition services for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

You will be working in person and directly with the owner, Al Darnell Jr., MBA, EA (BiG Al), and our Executive Assistant in downtown Oakland.

We are looking for someone that works well in a small office environment, enjoys challenging and complex tax work across a variety of industries, is self‑motivated, can manage their own projects and meet critical deadlines, and requires minimal oversight.

This person must pay acute attention to detail, be able to work independently or as part of a team, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Salary: Starting at $90,000/year

Qualifications

Minimum of 3+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, and client service

Strong understanding of US tax code and regulations

Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills

Proficient in tax preparation and accounting software programs

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work independently

Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

Responsibilities

Prepares complex tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts

Provides tax planning and consulting services for small businesses and high‑net‑worth individuals

Directly engages with clients and co‑workers, building and cultivating strong professional relationships

Completes bookkeeping and accounting for clients, including reconciliation and the closing of books

Does tax and business research and provides sage advice to clients looking to save taxes and improve business efficiencies

Requirements

Must be able to pass a full background check

Must have current and valid PTIN and CTEC licenses

Must have the ability to complete a tax return from intake to client delivery with minimal supervision

Must have recent experience completing 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065 with all schedules

Positive attitude and ability to collaborate with others in a team‑based environment

Ability to commute reliably to Oakland, CA 94607 or are willing to relocate before starting work

Preferred

Licensed Tax Preparer by IRS and CTEC, Enrolled Agent or CPA licensed in CA, in good standing, with no prior or pending sanctions or litigation

Experience with other accounting functions related to bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, and other business accounting tasks
