We’re hiring a Tax staff accountant who can handle both complex tax compliance and light accounting/bookkeeping responsibilities. This role is ideal for someone who is technically strong, highly self-reliant, and experienced in working independently in a remote environment. You will be preparing U.S. tax returns, supporting clean-up and oversight of financials in QuickBooks Online, interacting with clients, conducting technical research, and playing a critical role in overall engagement workflows and quality.
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare and review individual and business tax returns in compliance with U.S. tax laws and regulations. Communicate with clients to gather necessary documents, clarify missing details, and ensure accurate information. Analyze client data to identify potential deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities. Maintain organized and confidential client records. Collaborate with team members to ensure deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld. Review and interpret financial statements to support tax preparation and advisory work. Review client’s books, perform clean-up projects in QuickBooks Online. Analyze and adjust financial statements and general ledgers for accuracy and completeness. Prepare and post journal entries, identify and resolve accounting discrepancies in QuickBooks Online. Conduct tax research and communicate clearly with clients and team members. Assist with internal SOPs, workflow documentation, and process improvements. Qualifications
2-3 years of U.S. tax preparation experience. Strong command of QuickBooks Online and journal entry adjustments. Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage priorities. Technically detail-oriented and comfortable reading IRS instructions and applying tax law. Proficiency with tools such as ProConnect, CCH Axcess, Karbon, Practice Ignition. Willing to adapt and work at a high level of intensity and fast pace to support the needs of a rapidly growing business. Benefits
