On Call Banquet House Attendant - The Langham, Chicago Location: Chicago

Primary Objective To manually set up, break down, and service all meeting rooms according to hotel standards.

Responsibilities

Break down banquet rooms from previous meetings, including removal of china, glass, silver, buffet equipment, AV equipment, chairs, tables, displays, and dancefloors.

Clean banquet rooms, vacuuming, dusting ledges, and checking cleanliness of walls and doors.

Set banquet rooms per specifications on Banquet Event Orders, including placement of tables, pens, pads, mints, glasses, water pitcher set‑ups, and breakfast buffets as required.

Maintain cleanliness and order of all storerooms.

Lock all function rooms when not in use and ensure all lights are turned off.

Assist service staff as needed.

Work nights, overnights, weekends, and some holidays as required by hospitality business.

Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.

Perform other duties as requested or assist with special guest requests.

Operate hotel freight elevator in prescribed manner to ensure safe and efficient set up of rooms.

Control noise level of activities involving room sets.

Understand and translate written specifications and diagrams of rooms for proper placement of tables, stages, and other props.

Report for duty as scheduled by direct supervisor according to operating hours.

Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hospitality Group standards.

Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Physical Demands

Stand, reach, bend, push, pull, handle, grasp, lift, carry, see, hear, talk, walk.

Considerable repetitive motion of hands and wrists associated with pouring drinks.

Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Stand for 90% of work shift.

Special Skills Required

Knowledge of various types of equipment and set up styles used in meeting rooms.

Ability to understand verbal English for supervisor and guest requests.

Read and write English sufficient to read Banquet Event Orders and supervisor instructions.

Lift and move multiple tables, chairs, and podiums weighing up to 80 lbs on a continuous basis.

Move or push goods on a hand cart or truck weighing up to 200 lbs.

Education Required Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school or any other combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Experience Required No prior experience required. Prior hospitality experience preferred.

Licenses or Certificates None required.

Salary Range $21.22 – $26.52 per hour
