Position Hours and Pay This position is for 3.25 hours per day at 141 days per year.
Position Pay PSE Salary Schedule Level 5 – $24.76 per hour.

Official hire date is based on School Board approval and may change without notice. Contact HR with questions.
Person hired must complete Right Response Training within 3–5 months of hire.
Right Response Training and other required training, Topic TBD, must be completed within the first 3–6 months of hire.
TB testing and MMR vaccination are required prior to official hire.
Required Training
Successful completion of the Fundamental Course of Studies (FCS) and the General Paraeducator Certificate required by state regulations.
Federal Minimum Employment Requirements
Must be 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must meet at least one of the following:
Successfully passed the ETS Para Pro test or Pearson Paraprofessional assessment.
Hold an AA degree or higher.
Earned 72 quarter credits (48 semester credits) at an accredited institution.
Completed a registered apprenticeship program offered by the Washington State Dept. of Labor & Industries.
Completed The Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program.

General Summary This role assists certificated staff in providing instruction, supervision, and support to preschool special education students. Responsibilities include individual and small‑group instruction, behavior management, assistance with personal care, and maintaining a safe learning environment.
Essential Functions
Provides instruction and assistance to special needs preschool students aged 3‑5 in a partially self‑contained or partially integrated setting.
Communicates progress and adjusts methods to meet diverse student needs.
Sits with students to keep them focused and supervises behavior in all settings.
Acts as a liaison among students, staff, and parents to promote safety and progress.
Assists physically handicapped students with positioning, hygiene, and personal care.
Administers medication and manages food service, including preparing snacks and maintaining inventory.
Teachers with self‑help skills, movement, and social behavior.
Documents home visits and records observations when required.
Maintains cleanliness of classroom, toys, equipment, and playgrounds.
Other Functions
Alert district staff to student problems.
Prepare and distribute instructional materials; operate office equipment.
Assist with record‑keeping and participate in departmental work teams.
Serve on committees and maintain confidential information.
Maintain transportation logs and attend meetings and training sessions.
Reporting Relationships Reports to the Director for Special Services; receives guidance from assigned certificated staff.
Mental Demands Frequent interruptions, task shifts, and handling students with a wide range of physical and emotional disabilities.
Physical Demands Exposure to infectious diseases, lifting students weighing up to 50 lbs., working outdoors, and cleaning hazardous substances. Requires extended periods of standing and moving.
Minimum Qualifications Education, training, skills, and experience necessary to carry out the assignment, with experience working with preschool and special‑needs students preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Skills in reading, writing, and communication; ability to work with students warmly and confidently; flexibility to change assignments; knowledge of physical disabilities and behavior disorders; organization and instruction delivery; fair and consistent behavior management; proficiency with computers and office equipment.
Licenses / Special Requirements Fingerprinting and background check. Completion of district infection control plan. Hepatitis‑B immunization offered. First‑aid/CPR certification required. TB testing and MMR vaccine required.
