Overview
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Post‑Doctoral Associate for the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research. This full‑time, temporary 12‑month appointment (40 hours per week) begins 12/01/2026 and offers a salary range of $61,008–$74,088.
Position Summary Post‑Doctoral Associates conduct research in health services research, comparative effectiveness research, and patient‑centered outcomes research. Trainees draw from disciplines such as Clinical Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Policy, Epidemiology, Sociology, Economics, and Health Behavior.
Qualifications and Requirements
Clinical or research doctorate (PhD, MD, DDS, DMD, PharmD, or equivalent). A PhD candidate may be accepted if the degree will be completed prior to starting the traineeship.
Strong research methods expertise and familiarity with health services research. Clinical doctorate holders are welcome if they are on track to complete a PhD at UNC.
Proficiency in oral and written communication and the ability to express complex concepts.
Preferred Qualifications No preferred qualifications are specified.

b) Have you received prior NRSA support either through an individual award or an institutional award? If yes, provide the award name, dates, pre/post, individual or institutional, and grant number.
c) Would you be a degree candidate if you received this fellowship support? If so, provide the degree sought, month/year expected, and discipline.
d) What previous experience do you have in the field of health services research or health policy analysis?
e) What is your objective in applying for this particular fellowship program? What sort of career path do you have in mind?
f) What aspect(s) of health services research (substantive issues, methodology, policy arena) are of greatest interest to you?
Attach a brief narrative description (no more than 2 pages, single‑spaced) of the research you propose to undertake as part of this fellowship.
