for a hybrid role in Tyler, TX.
Job Title OSP Permitting Coordinator / Utilities Associate
Location Hybrid - Must be able to travel to Tyler, TX (within 2 hours) as needed
Compensation Hourly rate based on experience ($28.00 - $35.00/hr)
About The Role Our client is seeking a highly organized and knowledgeable professional to support permitting efforts for OSP construction projects in the Tyler, TX area. This hybrid role offers flexibility, with occasional travel to Tyler required, especially after onboarding. The position plays a key role in enabling broadband infrastructure expansion, including fiber, HFC, coax, and new build deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit permit applications for aerial and underground OSP projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Liaise with city, county, and state agencies—including TXDOT—to understand permitting processes and maintain strong relationships to expedite approvals
Coordinate with electric, gas, and water utilities for joint trenching, pole attachments, and right‑of‑way access
Work closely with engineering and construction teams to gather necessary documentation, including route maps, technical drawings, and design specs
Maintain detailed records of permit submissions, approvals, and revisions; monitor timelines and follow up to prevent delays (most of the role involves office‑based tracking and updates)
Stay current with permitting regulations, construction codes, and right‑of‑way guidelines applicable to OSP work in Texas
Address and resolve permitting challenges, including rejected applications and jurisdictional disputes
Identify opportunities to streamline permitting workflows and improve communication across teams and agencies
Required Qualifications
Direct experience with telecom permits (fiber, coax, or HFC)
Strong understanding of TXDOT permitting processes for aerial and underground construction
Familiarity with construction and design requirements (e.g., pole height, trench specs)
Experience with pole permits, joint use requests, and right‑of‑way regulations
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and follow‑up capabilities
Proficiency with permitting platforms, GIS tools, and construction documentation
Ability to manage multiple projects independently
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with telecom contractors or internet service providers
Knowledge of Texas DOT and municipal permitting processes
Experience coordinating with electric, gas, and water utilities during OSP planning and execution
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tyler, TX.
