Job Description Mid-Level SQL Server Migration DBA
What You’ll Do
Assist with the assessment and documentation of existing SQL Server environments
Support database migration efforts, including backup/restore, scripting, data transfers, and validation
Perform routine health checks and troubleshooting during and after migrations
Collaborate with senior DBAs, infrastructure, and application teams
Execute test migrations and contribute to performance tuning and optimization
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and security compliance throughout the migration process
Maintain documentation and support incident resolution post-migration
What You’ll Need
3-5 years of hands‑on experience in SQL Server administration and support (versions 2012 through latest)
Familiarity with SQL Server migration processes and tools (e.g., Data Migration Assistant, backup/restore, Always On, or log shipping)
Proficiency in T‑SQL and scripting for automation
Working knowledge of SQL Server features like jobs, indexes, users/roles, and performance plans
Experience supporting on‑premises and/or hybrid environments
Strong understanding of SQL Server tools: SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Profiler
Hands‑on experience with database migration tools and techniques
Experience with cloud‑based migration (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS for SQL Server)
Troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
Good communication and documentation capabilities
Willingness to learn and work in a team‑oriented setting
Ability to follow directions while also taking initiative when needed
