Job Overview Maximus is seeking a highly skilled Storage & Systems Administrator with a minimum of 10 years of enterprise-level experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex IT infrastructure environments. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in VMware virtualization, Microsoft Windows Server, NetApp storage, Linux systems, and enterprise networking. This role will be responsible for ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance of our IT infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud environments. This is an onsite role that requires a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management

– Design, deploy, and maintain VMware vSphere/vCenter clusters, including advanced features (HA, DRS, vSAN, vLCM, SRM). Manage and administer Windows Server infrastructure (2016/2019/2022) including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, Failover Clustering, DFS, IIS. Implement, monitor, and optimize NetApp ONTAP storage systems (AFF/FAS), iSCSI and FCP SAN provisioning for VMware and Oracle/SQL workloads, CIFS/SMB share management, NFS exports, quota enforcement, SnapMirror replication for DR and backup strategies, storage efficiency features (deduplication, compression, FabricPool). Administer Linux servers (Red Hat Enterprise/Rocky/Ubuntu) with patching, hardening, performance tuning.

Cloud & Virtualization

– Manage hybrid infrastructure across Azure, AWS, or other cloud platforms and integrate on‑premises storage and compute resources with cloud‑based services for disaster recovery, backup, and workload migration.

Networking & Security

– Collaborate with network teams to design and maintain LAN/WAN, VLANs, routing, and firewall configurations supporting storage and virtualization workloads; implement security best practices across all systems (encryption, RBAC, certificate management, patch compliance).

Monitoring & Automation

– Utilize tools such as NetApp OnCommand Unified Manager, SolarWinds, vRealize, Ansible, PowerCLI to monitor, automate, and optimize operations; develop scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate provisioning, reporting, and maintenance tasks.

Disaster Recovery & Backup

– Architect and maintain business continuity plans, including SnapMirror DR, Commvault integrations, VMware SRM.

Collaboration & Documentation

– Work cross‑functionally with DBAs, network engineers, and application teams to ensure seamless infrastructure operations; maintain detailed documentation of configurations, runbooks, SOPs to support audits and compliance.

Minimum Requirements

Technical degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

10+ years hands‑on experience in enterprise IT infrastructure administration.

Proof of United States Citizenship required.

Qualified for Public Trust clearance.

Located in the Morrisville, North Carolina area and able to commute to the onsite location.

Technical Skills & Certifications

VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher.

Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect/Administrator.

NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) or higher.

Cloud certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Administrator.

Strong knowledge of iSCSI, FCP, NFS, CIFS/SMB, SnapMirror, and ONTAP CLI/API.

Deep understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, Failover Clustering, and Linux administration.

Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs) and storage networking concepts.

Strong scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).

Experience with Cisco MDS SAN Switching.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Oracle/SQL database storage integration (ASM, RAC, Data Guard).

Experience with Administration and management of Linux RHEL.

Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Trident CSI).

Experience with ITIL/ITSM frameworks (e.g., ServiceNow, incident/change management).

Pay Transparency & Benefits Annual salary ranges from $130,000 to $150,000. Compensation is based on factors including location, education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel, internal pay alignment, seniority, and merit systems. Benefits include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off, and additional short‑ and long‑term incentives.
