Base pay range $18.50/hr - $27.75/hr
Major Responsibilities
Clean and disinfect assigned areas using appropriate solutions and schedules.
Operate various equipment following department procedures.
Use chemicals and solutions in accordance with department policy.
Keep work areas orderly, clean, and safe.
Customer Satisfaction
Utilize AIDET with internal and external customers to meet system goals.
Resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively with associates.
Provide a positive, supportive attitude to patients, families, and staff.
Maintain confidentiality of patient and departmental information.
Follow chain of command to resolve complaints and grievances.
Use appropriate procedures following patient discharges
Thoroughly wash and sanitize beds and transfer clean linens to discharge rooms.
Clean and sanitize entire patient rooms using established procedures.
Apply appropriate germicides for disinfection.
Select cleaning materials and supplies appropriate to the job
Clean all assigned areas following department procedures.
Replenish supplies such as paper towels, toilet tissues, soap, and pick up additional supplies as needed.
Collect and sanitize waste, ensuring garbage cans are clean.
Observe and follow Universal Precautions, Infection Control Policies, and departmental procedures.
Sanitize after emergency spills and place full, tied bags of soiled linen in linen chutes.
Wash hands thoroughly throughout the day following the hospital handwash policy. \ Prepares detergents, germicidal solutions and other cleaning/disinfecting solutions
Identify types of soiled areas and use proper solutions per departmental policies.
Handle chemicals and solutions following departmental policies.
Ensure chemicals and solutions are properly labeled.
Adhere to safety regulations per policy and procedure.
Move equipment and furniture for cleaning, rearrangement and/or relocation
Arrange furniture and equipment according to specifications and floor plans.
Clean equipment and notify supervisor of needed repairs.
Report safety hazards appropriately.
Return unused supplies to closet, clean carts, and replace items in an orderly manner.
Collects and/or distributes soiled and/or clean linens, as required
Collect hazardous and medical waste according to infection control procedures.
Sanitize all garbage/waste disposal containers.
Separate regular and recycle trash per procedure.
Demonstrates Commitment To Professional Growth And Competence
Attend all mandatory departmental and hospital meetings and in‑services.
Complete annual CBTs required.
Follow written department goals and objectives, reviewing annually with managers.
Seek education and learning experiences in areas of identified growth needs and review progress during annual evaluation.
Maintains responsibility for attendance and punctuality
Maintain proper attendance requirement outlined in the Hospital Policy and Procedure Manual.
Plan for special days off in advance and submit written requests for time off to department management.
Request PTO time in accordance with departmental policy.
Provide adequate notice to department management for absences, calling two hours before the beginning of shift.
Education/Experience Required High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
Basic computer skills preferred; Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Able to operate small electrical equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners).
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading and comprehending chemical labels and safety materials.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions Job responsibilities involve walking, standing, bending, climbing, and lifting throughout the work day. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For lifts over 35 pounds, lifting equipment or assistance from another associate is expected. Unique lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case‑by‑case basis.
