Open Rank Tenure/Tenure-Track Professor of Counseling Psychology Position Number: 997454

Base pay: $60,000 – $90,000 per year.

Job Summary The Department of Psychology at Angelo State University invites applications for an Assistant, Associate, or Professor position in Counseling Psychology for a 9‑month tenure‑track or tenured appointment beginning August 2025. The program offers a Master of Science and a new Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) program, started in 2022. Candidates will teach doctoral‑level graduate courses, mentor students, conduct research, and support program accreditation.

Typical Duties

Teach faculty‑level courses for the Counseling Psychology M.S. and Psy.D. programs, including face‑to‑face instruction in San Angelo, TX.

Provide student mentorship, including direction of theses and dissertations.

Conduct research in counseling psychology, with a focus on science‑based practice.

Advise graduate and undergraduate students.

Contribute to program and departmental service, including accreditation processes such as APA accreditation for the Psy.D. program.

Teach graduate courses in the afternoons and evenings as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Expertise in graduate‑level counseling psychology education and science‑based treatment models.

Ability to provide training and supervision for students pursuing licensure as professional counselors, psychological associates, or psychologists.

Passion for guiding undergraduate and graduate student research.

Record of scholarship or potential for scholarship, and strong teaching and supervisory skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or School Psychology from an accredited program (ABD considered if completed within the first year of employment).

Currently licensed psychologist (in Texas or a state allowing license transfer to Texas) or eligibility to obtain a Texas license within three years of hire.

Record of scholarship or potential for scholarship, and strong teaching and supervisory skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with training in a science‑based practitioner program.

Evidence of a commitment to empirically supported treatments.
