Job Details The Senior Accountant will oversee and manage the financial operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and government regulations. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, supporting budgeting and audits, and providing insight to leadership for sound financial decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and reconcile all accounting records, ledgers, and accounts according to GAAP and nonprofit standards.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management and board review.
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense tracking.
Support annual audits and coordinate with external auditors.
Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and nonprofit reporting requirements (e.g., Form 990).
Assist in preparing and monitoring the organizational budget.
Oversee and improve internal financial controls and accounting processes.
Collaborate with ministry leaders to provide financial guidance for events, programs, and outreach initiatives.
Steward resources responsibly in alignment with the organization’s Christian mission and values.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience, including nonprofit accounting.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and IRS nonprofit reporting requirements.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
Alignment with and commitment to the Christian mission.
Spiritual & Cultural Fit
